We have seen a rapid proliferation of tuner variations on the S550 theme. Some are mild and some are wild, but none are likely to eclipse the power-mad insanity of UBB Super Cars forthcoming RS 1000. Obviously this Mustang will sport four-digit street cred, but with options like an ultra-wide body kit and an all-wheel-drive powertrain, this latest entry into the tuner fray stands apart from the crowd.
If you aren’t familiar with UBB Super Cars, the first three letters stand for Ultimate Bad Boy, which acts as a sort of mission statement for the company’s products. The company launched back in 2007 after owner Tim Porter drove another tuner Mustang and was left wanting more. That experience inspired him to create his first offering, the UBB 1000. Based on the 2007 Mustang GT, it featured a Whipple-supercharged Ford GT engine and turned heads from the states to the company’s homeland, the United Kingdom.
Now the company has set its sights on the 2015 Mustang GT, and its plans are pretty impressive. Powered by a low-compression Coyote 5.0-liter engine fortified with forged components, the RS 1000 will be boosted by one of Hellion Power Systems’ Eliminator twin-turbo systems. And, that system will be up-fit with all the best options as well, including ball-bearing turbos. These engines will also feature special camshaft grinds designed to allow the 5.0-liter engine to rev to 8,000 rpm.
“…In doing this we end up with a safe engine that can cope with the huge increase in power, the widebody UBB RS 1000 will have an all-wheel-drive system coupled to a fully sequential six-speed gearbox with the power being split 60/40,” Tim said. “The standard UBB RS 900 will start at $115,000.”
Yes, you read that right. The latest Mustang was built to please the world with its independent rear suspension, but by adding an all-wheel-drive drivetrain, the UBB Mustang could be a world-beater. And you don’t have to get the striking widebody kit. You can order an RS 900 with standard-width flanks. However, if you do want those neck-snapping looks, don’t fret. These cars will be streetable even with the wild bodywork.
“The widebody will be the flag-ship UBB. We understand it’s not to everybody’s taste and, yes, it is low, but the beauty is that the front splitter has a quick-release system for street use and for the hardcore gearheads who want to go and burn up the track it can be fitted with ease in just 5 minutes.”
For now, Tim is concentrating on the development of the GT-based packages, but there will eventually be a version based on the factory-turbocharged S550.
“There are also plans for an all-wheel-drive 2.3 EcoBoost pushing out a healthy 500 brake horsepower using a modified Focus RS transmission. Its power and handling will be on par with the best supercars around… and still for a third of the price,” Tim added.
The UBB S550s are set to be built in left- and right-hand-drive versions, with the latter for customers in the United Kingdom, Australia, and South Africa. Obviously, the images you see here are illustrations byRob Evans Design, so stay tuned for the real thing.
